Apple Watch Q3 shipments are estimated to drop 10% annually, Samsung grabs the market
Apple estimates Insider Web site references, research coordinating body Counterpoint Research pointed out that Apple’s intellectual watch Apple Watch previous quarter market competition in the industry is South Korea’s Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 away. Counterpoint Research said that although Apple is still a safe distance ahead of Samsung in the smart watch market, in the third quarter (July to September), Apple Watch shipments decreased by 10%.
According to Apple Insider’s analysis, the poor sales of Apple Watch last season may be due to the late launch of the new Series 7 than usual. Apple Watch Series 7 was released in September, but only went on sale in October. Consumers know that there will be new models, and in the few weeks between the announcement and the launch, they are less willing to buy the Series 6 or SE that will soon be obsolete, which has affected the sales of Apple Watch for nearly a month.
Samsung became the big winner of the third season. Counterpoint senior analyst Sujeong Lim said: “Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series shipments in the third quarter were much better than expected. More than 60% of the shipments were sold to the North American and European markets. The market share of mid-to-high-priced models in these two markets High.” Samsung thus grabbed the runner-up position of Huawei, which was originally in second place.
Global shipments of smart watches in the third quarter increased by 16% annually.
Research companies such as Counterpoint use their own methods to estimate some of Apple’s undisclosed data. Apple’s senior executives often deny the accuracy of the research company’s data. Apple’s financial report did not detail Apple Watch’s sales figures, but classified them under the “wearable devices, household and accessories” major items and combined them for calculation.
According to Apple’s previous quarterly earnings report, sales of products such as “wearable devices, homes and accessories” were US$7.9 billion, compared with US$6.52 billion in the same period last year.
